Kawartha Lakes National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Flag Raising Ceremony

To honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation this year, Kawartha Lakes is hosting a flag raising ceremony at City Hall on Friday September 27, 2024 at 11am.

Residents are invited to attend the flag raising ceremony to reflect upon the painful history and lasting impacts of Canada's residential school system and to reaffirm Kawartha Lakes’ commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. All members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place at 26 Francis Street in Lindsay on the eastern lawn of City Hall.

Residents planning on attending the event are encouraged to wear orange to commemorate the devastating, continued impact of the Residential School system, to honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.
