2021 TC Photo Contest Winners

Health Unit Urges People to Get COVID Vaccines, as More Appointments Are Available
If you still need a COVID-19 vaccine, there are more places and spaces to get your dose of protection in coming days. The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is promoting the continued availability of first, second or third doses of COVID-19 vaccine at its mass immunization clinics.
Lovin' it Local: Meet the Owner
The Lovin’ it Local campaign has been in full swing for a few months, hoping to encourage residents of the Kawartha Lakes + Haliburton regions to explore the hidden gems in their own backyard. The Passport 2 Christmas promotion is wrapped up for another year and we want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated. This year we received 220 eligible entries which account for an estimated 900 purchases when accounting for double stamp weekends.

Adult Volunteers Needed for the Navy League Program
Kawartha Lakes Navy League Branch is looking for adult volunteers for the Navy League Program. If we do not get volunteers, we will likely have to shut down this FREE youth program. If you enjoy working with youth aged 9-12, we have the volunteer opportunity for you!
Health Unit Notified of Potential Local Case of Omicron Variant
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit has been notified that initial screening of a local resident who has COVID has shown the person has the markers consistent with the Omicron variant.
Increase in COVID-19 Cases Forces Health Unit to Make Changes to Clinics and Contact Tracing
Dr. Natalie Bocking, Medical Officer of Health for the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit says that a recent increase in cases has stretched the capacity of the health unit staff, and the organization has had to change some process to balance the work involved with new cases while continuing to offer mass immunization clinics in the communities.
Iconic Fenelon Falls Senior Citizens’ Club looks to Evolve with the Times
The last 20 months have been very difficult on public venues intended for social and recreational purposes. The pandemic closures have been devastating for facilities which provide the much-needed occasions to meet, exercise and interact with others. The economic impact is hard felt by all involved. The Fenelon Falls Senior Citizens Club at 58 Murray Street, Fenelon Falls has lost significant revenue from the lack of venue bookings and events normally held in the building

Popular CBC Show, ‘Still Standing’, Sets up in Fenelon Falls
As the Manager of the Chamber of Commerce, I get some interesting inquiries! So it was very exciting in the spring of 2021 when a TV production company reached out about filming an episode in Fenelon Falls. Fast forward a few months and Jonny Harris, along with the crew from CBC’s “Still Standing”, are on location in the village. For more on the show, I spoke with Anne Francis, the Executive Producer. Here’s our behind the scenes Q & A.

Get Aboard the GO-VAXX Bus in Brighton This Sunday to Get Vaccinated
Getting on this bus will help get you to where you want to be in terms of protection against COVID-19. The GO-VAXX bus will be in Brighton this Sunday (December 12) from 10 am to 4 pm at King Edward Park (75 Elizabeth St.). A warming area will be available inside the adjacent King Edward Park Arena where people can wait pre- and post-vaccination.

The Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society is excited to offer the perfect gift for that special person, just in time for your Holiday shopping needs! Our uniquely designed book, “The Gardens of Fenelon Falls,” and 4 different sets of our garden greeting cards are now available for purchase. The book is filled with over 40 pages of beautiful photos of our gardens, and includes gardening tips, informative charts and a new map of the gardens! The card sets include 5 beautiful images or artwork from the book.
Santa says ‘Thank You’!
To everyone who helped make the Fenelon Falls Santa Day Drive By event on November 27, 2021 a great success. The children enjoyed receiving goodie bags and waving to Santa and the wonderful cast of cartoon characters on Water St.

Our Society just had its Annual General Meeting on November 22, 2021. The Executive and Directors were installed and Anna Croxall, in charge of Membership for our club, presented special recognition pins to Members for their years of service.
