Curbside textile recycling pickup will return for Kawartha Lakes residents this fall. During the week of October 18, residents will have the opportunity to arrange for textile curbside pickup through Recycling Rewards on their designated date outlined below.

Submitted by Sophie Kaloudas. On Friday September 24, young people from our town were chanting and marching on Water St. and Colborne St. Why? The climate strike was part of a global movement #fridaysforfuture, in which students advocate for climate action by skipping school. Strikes were held all over the world in September 24th, including in Toronto, NYC, London, AND! Fenelon Falls!

Late Summer Tomato Gazpacho by TheDevineKitchen
I’m writing this Gazpacho recipe on the last day of summer as I still have an abundance of cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumber and zucchini. Gazpacho is a soup made of raw, blended vegetables. Serve Gazpacho fresh out of the blender at room temperature and it will burst with fresh flavours from the garden. Serve it chilled on the hottest of summer days.

This recipe has been part of my culinary repertoire for decades. I continue to serve it as it’s delicious. I find it to be quite adaptable. Serve it as an appetizer with crostini or crackers, or sliced as an entrée in the form of a loaf. It can also be served as a savory pie in a crust.

On Saturday, September 25th, The Book Lady is teaming up to host the Haliburton non-profit organization Turtle Guardians on the bookstore's front patio space to bring some turtle education (and real live turtles!) to downtown Fenelon Falls.

Kawartha Lakes Doors Open 2021
On September 12, 2021, Doors Open Kawartha Lakes returns with three driving tours to explore the heritage of Kawartha Lakes. These tours will take you throughout the many different areas in Kawartha Lakes you can explore at your leisure. Each driving tour has its own printable brochure with driving directions and information on select sites along the route.

Fundraiser for Fenelon Falls Grannies For Grannies
Aren't these beautiful? Look at those vivid colours! They are "wet felted" flower brooches. Very popular now. People wear them on their hats or scarves. Marg Chalmers, a local resident, a Granny and a talented textile artist will be offering a workshop this Saturday Sept 18.

Mass Immunization Clinic at Fenelon Falls has Finished
5 months ago we began a journey of community engagement with great success. The Lions Club of Fenelon Falls, Lions Club of Coboconk, The Seniors Club, The Curling Club, Kawartha Soroptimist, Bobcaygeon Kinettes, the Rotary Club of Fenelon Falls as well as individual community members who all wanted to contribute to the greater good of their community.
