Continuing Improvements to Key Public Health Indicators Allow for Easing of Public Health Measures
Even as more provincial COVID-19 restrictions are lifted in coming days, residents are being asked to keep up the “tried-and-true prevention efforts” that continue to work. As of 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, the Ontario government is increasing the size of social gatherings and easing capacity limits in most businesses.
Family Day 2022 Public Skating
The Parks and Recreation Division will offer a variety of Public Skating opportunities on Monday February 22 for Family Day. Pre-registration is required through the Online Program Registration website for all Public Skate times. Limited space is available. Click read more to view the skate times and locations.

‘It Happens Here Too!’: Public Awareness Campaign Launched to Prevent Sex Trafficking in Kawartha Lakes
Building on past prevention efforts locally, Women’s Resources this week launched the first-ever formal, social media campaign to raise public awareness about sex trafficking in Kawartha Lakes. Women’s Resources Kawartha Lakes and Kawartha-Haliburton Victim Services report having provided services related to human trafficking to some 40-60 women in the Kawartha Lakes area.

Amphibian and Reptile Road Ecology: Threats and Conservation Solutions
Nature is abundant in the Kawarthas, but so is the demise of many critters on our roads. Especially in the spring, from early April, amphibians like frogs and salamanders are run over as they attempt to cross roads to get to wetlands where they lay eggs; turtles that lay eggs on the sunny edge of roads, and snakes that warm themselves directly on asphalt are also prime targets. GO-VAXX Bus Returning to Haliburton County
The GO-VAXX bus will once again be rolling into the area, but with a slight change to how it operates. The retrofitted GO bus that serves as a mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be available to provide first, second and booster doses to eligible individuals. COVID-19 vaccines for children aged 5-11 years will also be available.

Health Unit Now Offering Walk-In Times to Everyone Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccines
Walk-ins for getting COVID-19 vaccines are now open to anyone age five years and older who is eligible for a first, second or booster dose. Effective immediately, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is providing walk-in times from 1-4:30 pm at any of its Mass Immunization Clinics in Cobourg, Lindsay, Colborne, Minden, Fenelon Falls, Brighton and Campbellford for everyone age 5+ who is now eligible for vaccines.
