With Halloween on the horizon, Five Counties Children’s Centre is sharing its top tips to make trick-or-treating more accessible for all children this year.
Curbside Battery Collection Returns November 14 to 17
Curbside battery collection is back. We’ll be collecting your used batteries curbside from November 14 to 17 on your regularly scheduled collection day. To dispose of your used batteries properly, please place them inside a clear, re-sealable bag and leave it on top of your fibre recycling materials at your curb by 7am on the morning of collection.

Shinny Hockey Returns to Arenas this Fall
The Kawartha Lakes Parks and Recreation Division is pleased to welcome the return of drop in Shinny Hockey to select Arenas this fall. Drop in Shinny Hockey is a non-contact, co-ed program for players 16 years of age and older. Senior Shinny is also offered for players 55 years of age and older.
Cable Cable, Ruralwave + Kawartha Lakes Food Source Provide Thanksgiving Meals
To help combat food insecurity in our region and give back to the community of Kawartha Lakes, Cable Cable and Ruralwave partnered with the Kawartha Lakes Food Source (KLFS) to provide 50 families with Thanksgiving meal kits.

Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service has Important Reminders for Residents during Fire Prevention Week
From October 9 to October 15, Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week (FPW). Each year, in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, FPW is observed by fire services across North America during the week of October 9.

Bid on amazing, one-of-a-kind items, some of them made by local artisans, including members of the Kawartha Woodturners Guild and Lindsay Creative Quilters’ Guild.

A fashion show unlike any you have ever attended! Remember Rocky Horror Picture show where the audience threw toast at the screen? Did you attend the Queen’s Silver Jubilee tea and wear a fascinator? The Fashion Through Time Event, on Oct 22 at the United Church in Fenelon Falls is a little bit like that. The audience is part of the show. Guests are invited to wear “fashion through time” that is meaningful to them.
