Kawartha Lakes is Seeking Public Input via a Survey Regarding Short Term Rentals in the Municipality

In an effort to minimize the negative impacts of Short Term Rentals on residents, and to support the positive economic impacts on residents and the municipality, Council asked staff to continue monitoring complaints during summer of 2022 and bring a report to Council by March 31, 2023. Along with the complaints and feedback that the municipality continues to receive and track, Kawartha Lakes is seeking broader public input in the form of a survey.

Missing Children Society of Canada Introduces Council to the Child Search Network & MCSC Rescu App

In the Committee of the Whole meeting on January 10, 2023, Council received a presentation by Kawartha Lakes Police Services (KLPS) Chief Mark Mitchell, Detachment Commander for the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Tim Tatchell, and Missing Children's Society of Canada’s (MCSC) CEO Amanda Pick. Following the tragic drowning of Draven Graham in June 2022, Kawartha Lakes OPP and KLPS have worked closely with stakeholders to adopt a new way to help find missing children faster.

In 2020, Mark Cossarin the Principal of Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI), a secondary school in Lindsay, Ontario, knew that the school had some significant pieces of Canadian artwork on the walls of the school, and contacted Kawartha Art Gallery in Lindsay, Ontario, to discuss the possibility of a long-term loan of the artwork to the Gallery.
