Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue and KATVA/KORMA unite to enhance trail safety with what3words app signage
Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service (KLFRS) is proud to announce a collaborative effort with volunteers from the Kawartha All-Terrain Vehicle Association (KATVA) and Kawartha Off-Road Motorcycle Association (KORMA) to enhance trail safety within Kawartha Lakes. Together, they are installing what3words app reminder signage throughout the expansive Kawartha Lakes trail system to help ensure the safety and well-being of trail users.

Three Free Cyber Awareness Information Sessions
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, and Kawartha Lakes Public Library, in collaboration with Kawartha Lakes Economic Development and the Kawartha Lakes Small Business Centre, is hosting three free Cyber Awareness Information Sessions aimed at equipping the general public with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the digital landscape safely and confidently.

Parking Lot Upgrade
In search of parking in downtown Fenelon Falls? Check out the newly upgraded lot located behind Lotus Indian Bistro at 69 Colborne Street. There are 35 parking spaces, 3 accessible spaces and designated parking for nearby tenants. The lot has been graded and new lighting installed as part of the larger Diggin’ Downtown reconstruction project.

Fire Chief Terry Jones is calling on all residents of Kawartha Lakes to test their smoke alarms on September 28 as part of Test Your Smoke Alarm Day. Be prepared to be Saved by the Beep with a working smoke alarm – it is your best chance to keep you and your family safe in the event of a fire.
Breast in Show Exhibition
Brenda Benedet became an artist when her life was rudely interrupted in 2018 with a breast cancer diagnosis. She volunteers as a Peer Support for patients with breast cancer as they take the journey that 1 in 8 women will also find themselves on. Come view her paintings and join us for an evening of art and advocacy. Opening reception Wednesday, October 4th from 5-7pm at the Colborne Art Gallery.

Phase 1 of the Short Term Rental (STR) Licensing Program rollout continues with the launch of the online Short Term Rental Accommodation Business License Application.
Sections of the Victoria Rail Trail closed September 20-27, 2023
Sections of the Victoria Rail Trail in Fenelon Falls between Victory Grove Road and Thorn Street will be closed for Ash and hazard tree removal on weekdays along the trail beginning Wednesday September 20 through Wednesday September 27 during the hours of 7am and 3pm.
Waste Management fall diversion program reminders
Kawartha Lakes is excited to share some of the great diversion programs available to residents this fall through the Waste Management division, like curbside textile recycling, winter landfill hours and seasonal road collection, fall curbside leaf and yard waste collection, woodchip (mulch) and compost giveaway, paint reuse program, mattress recycling program, bulky plastic recycling program.
