Roasted Cauliflower with Pickled Red Pepper Vinaigrette by TheDevineKitchen
Roasting brings out the best of flavours. This recipe elevates this cooking method with the addition of a quick pickled vinaigrette, which happens to be my favourite way to serve cauliflower.

Everyday is International Women's Day in Fenelon Falls
International Women’s Day is taking place on Monday, March 8th. The theme this year is #Choosetochallenge. Choose to challenge the world, and with that comes change. International Women’s Day was first honoured in 1911 by Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, and Germany. Men and Women attended rallies that campaigned for Women’s rights to work, vote, and end discrimination. On the eve of WWI, Russian Women campaigned for peace and observed their first International Women’s Day. In 1975, International Women’s Day was celebrated for the first time by the United Nations. Fast forward to 2021, the world has witnessed a significant change in society’s view on Women’s emancipation and equality. We have Female astronauts, Prime Ministers, and beyond that, Women have rights!
In our village, we have a web of Female owned businesses, a majority of Women sitting on boards, Volunteering, and a plethora of opportunities for young girls to pursue their dreams with strong Female role models as guides. It is incredible to see the shift in the world's perspective on Women, and how far Women have come since 1911. I believe the biggest change starts at home, and what is truly inspiring is the number of Women who have grown our village and strengthened our community in outstanding ways. This article is to highlight some of the amazing Women in Fenelon Falls who have all contributed to the advancements Women have made in society over the years. Our Women thrive each and every day. This progress will continue if we “think globally, act locally, and make everyday International Women’s Day”!

Popularly known as the “Jewel of the Kawarthas” , Fenelon Falls is a village located in Kawartha Lakes. Filled with unique shops, dining experiences, landmarks and outdoor activities; this picturesque village has offered something for everyone over the past several years. So, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and tourism trends began to shift, this quaint village faced an unprecedented challenge: “How to become the chosen destination for visitors, offering a safe tourism experience in any given environment?” With this mission and a “go digital” mandate in mind, Fenelon Falls embarked on a new journey. Lockdown 2.0 - How to Stay Busy in Isolation, Support Small Business, and Take Care of your Mental Health
We are now in our second government-issued lockdown. One would think the second time around would be easier but there is nothing easy about socially isolating oneself, staying busy at home, keeping your business afloat with no business coming in, and overall feeling like you are living in limbo. Thankfully for those who live and are a part of our wonderful community, there is support in all directions for both individuals and businesses alike. I think this article is important to let you all know that whatever you are feeling, whether it's a much-needed break from the fast pace of life or fear of the unknown, you are not alone. Through social media, I have reached out to see what people in our community have been doing to cope with the lockdown and below are a few of the responses that I received.

Curious' Newest Campaign
Submitted by Curious?
The Curious Tree of Hope! Curious has decorated over the top this year to give our community some Holiday sparkle. Many of us need a little boost this year to find the Christmas spirit as 2020 has tested us in ways we never expected. It has been made crystal clear just how important our human connections are. Our physical contact with family, friends and even strangers is an integral part of who we are and without it many of us are struggling. But we are striving to discover new ways to connect, through energy, random acts of kindness and offering encouragement wherever we can.
New Ownership after Two and a Half Decades
Submitted by Kara Bradimore
The Stone Fountain Motel is under new ownership after nearly twenty-five years. Tome Arsovski bought the family run motel back in October from previous owners Sue and Bob Edwardson, and has various plans to renovate in the coming years to help give back to the community. “Our decision to sell the motel was simply because we were ready to retire,” commented Sue Edwardson, “We are sad to say goodbye to the property, but feel blessed that we were able to create so many incredible memories for so many years. We hope that Kawartha Lakes will welcome Tome as it did us.”
