Love Always Wins
Submitted by the Fenelon Falls and District Chamber of Commerce
By now you may have heard of a recent incident of discrimination against the staff of a beloved local business, Grr8 Finds Market. Grr8 Finds Market is well known not only for the impressive collection of antiques, collectibles, and home decor they have on display, but also for the welcoming and accepting environment they offer to their staff, customers, and members of our community. They are a pillar of love and acceptance in Fenelon Falls.
On behalf of the Fenelon Falls & District Chamber of Commerce, the Explore Fenelon Falls team is speaking out in support for the Grr8 Finds staff, including owner, Randy Meredith, and employee, Rylee Rae. We are so proud of the many business owners and community members that have already stepped forward to share their love and solidarity, which embodies our beautiful village's values of diversity, inclusivity, and kindness towards all. We are stronger together!

#HeartForFenelon 2.0
It’s been a few months since we launched the #Heart For Fenelon campaign and the stories of kindness continue to pour in. Sometimes it’s just a small act and other times it’s a large show of support when our neighbours need to know that we have their back. Collectively every act counts and makes Fenelon Falls a place that we are proud to call our home or the place where we like to get away from it all.

Summer Fun In The Sun
Submitted by Marina Hodson
As we continue to re-open for summer activities and recognizing the great weather we have been having, it seemed appropriate to put out a quick reminder about some of the precautions we should all remember. After all, summer is a fun time that can be packed with activities but it is also a time to be wary of long-lasting health impacts, so before you head for the beach, the park or even the back-yard, Health Canada recommends you take a few minutes to learn about sun safety.

Welcome Back Cottagers
On behalf of the businesses of Fenelon Falls we want to say hello to everyone; whether you are a cottager, seasonal resident, or a local who has been staying safe at home, welcome back, we are so very happy you are here. It has been so long since we last got together and there is so much we should catch up on. Let’s be honest, these past few months have not been easy but now we can look forward to kicking back with a cold drink, and enjoying what is set to be a beautiful summer. There’s no better place to do so than Fenelon Falls, where we have taken advantage of a little extra time to make this summer extra special. Our shops, eateries and services are here for you as you welcome family and friends to enjoy some lake time.

The bikes are available again by the locks in Fenelon Falls for the summer! Thanks to Diane and Jeremy Engelstad helping me move the bikes from winter storage. There are the same features that appealed to hundreds of renters last year: convenient central location on Water Street, self-rental with Movatic app from 8 am to 10 pm, comfortable and rugged bikes.
People's Economy Summit Plans "New Economic Normal" for Kawartha Lakes
Submitted by Mike Perry
Some residents of Kawartha Lakes are seizing the moment of economic upheaval to chart a path forward for a new “economic normal” in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The initial group – which has started out as half a dozen local leaders including Mike Perry, Laraine Hale, Dennis Geelan, Helen Scott and Ameila Valenti – is working to build a peoples’ movement to implement economic measures that serve people and the environment better than the free market.

Staying Safe in the Sun, Sand, and Surf
Submitted by Kendra Fleming
Residents are being reminded that it’s not business as usual if they head out to enjoy the sun, sand and surf this summer. The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit begins its beach water testing program this week in Kawartha Lakes. As it does, beachgoers are reminded that it’s important to take steps to remain safe, both in and out of the water.
