Family fun in the "Sun"?
Submitted by Marina Hodson. In 2008, Ontario adopted a Statutory Holiday on the third Monday of February known as Family Day to provide residents the time to spend a day with their loved ones. This idea originated in Alberta in 1990 and has since been adopted by many of the Provinces, although not always under that same name.

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR) received its first shipment of Moderna vaccine on Monday. It was expecting its next delivery of Moderna vaccine on February 1 but has learned the next shipment will not arrive until at least February 5. This delay means that clinics scheduled for next week to vaccinate the residents of long-term care homes, high-risk retirement homes, and a senior’s housing facility in Alderville will all need to be rescheduled.

Do you know where your Vitamin D comes from?
Living in Canada, the shorter colder days and lack of sunshine mean that you are likely to be Vitamin D deficient this time of year, so keeping track of your intake is vital and right now, Vitamin D is proving more important than ever. Deficiencies have been linked to poor sleep, pain, muscle weakness and depression. Additionally, Vitamin D is linked to preventing skeletal issues such as rickets, improved immune function and cardiovascular health and while evidence remains spotty, there have also been preliminary studies linking it to improved outcomes related to acute respiratory issues, including COVID-19.

Meet Kellie-Anne
Hello everyone! My name is Kellie-Anne Powell, and I am the new placement student at the Fenelon Falls tourism office. A little bit about myself- I am in my final semester at Fleming College in the Global Travel program. I have never worked in online marketing before, so this job is a fun change of pace! I have really enjoyed getting acquainted with each member's business (virtually, of course!) and I would love to take a trip down to Fenelon once things clear up to meet everyone in person.
