Help keep Kawartha Lakes the naturally beautiful place it is
Media release from City of Kawartha Lakes
The municipality is made up of over 250 rivers and lakes and has over 600km of trails to explore. With so much of the area defined by natural landscapes and green spaces, it’s vital for all those who live and work here to do their part to keep the City healthy and clean. Disposing of your household waste in and/or beside public waste containers is an illegal offence and fines can be placed, just the same as the illegal dumping of waste on roadsides or ditches.
A Shoutout to the Santa Day Committee
While Santa Day did not go on this year as we are all used to, the Santa Day Committee spared no creativity while lighting up our village and continuing the spirit of Christmas despite the circumstances as a result of COVID-19. A HUGE shout out to the Santa Day Committee is much deserved, for working so hard to create an opportunity for everyone to feel a little bit brighter, and a little bit more jolly. Whether you were walking or driving, you could not miss the beautiful displays. Our village truly resembled the inside of a snow globe, or better yet, an original Hallmark Christmas movie set up. Big thanks to the Santa Day Committee.
Déjà Vu
Submission by Marina Hodson at Kawartha North FHT
Here we go again…. Déjà Vu is a feeling that you have experienced something before and literally translated means “already seen”. Personally, when the current lockdown was announced in December, I had more than a little bit of a feeling of Déjà Vu and I imagine I was not alone.
Insider Itineraries
Get the exclusive scoop on what the residents of Fenelon Falls love most about where we live and our wonderful village. Meet this weeks insiders: Bill and Wendy Kennedy. Bill grew up in Dunsford, Wendy in Lindsay. The pair would dance at Greenhurst. Having their cottage on Cameron Lake, they were here as much as they could be, close to family and friends. Bill and Wendy chose to retire at their summer oasis and make it their permanent residence. A “terrific plan” as Wendy put it. Below are Bill and Wendy’s top 5 favourite things to do.
Lockdown 2.0 - How to Stay Busy in Isolation, Support Small Business, and Take Care of your Mental Health
We are now in our second government-issued lockdown. One would think the second time around would be easier but there is nothing easy about socially isolating oneself, staying busy at home, keeping your business afloat with no business coming in, and overall feeling like you are living in limbo. Thankfully for those who live and are a part of our wonderful community, there is support in all directions for both individuals and businesses alike. I think this article is important to let you all know that whatever you are feeling, whether it's a much-needed break from the fast pace of life or fear of the unknown, you are not alone. Through social media, I have reached out to see what people in our community have been doing to cope with the lockdown and below are a few of the responses that I received.

Many of you who read the Town Crier and send in your submissions are probably very familiar with her and recognize the time, effort, and wonderful job she has done with it. Dana has continued to create a space for tourists, and locals alike to share their stores, experiences, and love for Fenelon Falls. As we move into a new year, the torch is being passed on. New year, new Chief!
